New Jersey’s biggest little mystery conference, Deadly Ink, will convene this year at the Sheraton-Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, New Jersey, from August 2-4. We have great guests lined up, and interesting plans are in the works. Watch this space to see when registration opens.
Our Guest of Honor this year will be Wendy Corsi Staub, New York Times and USA Today bestseller and award-winning author of more than ninety novels. She lives in the New York City suburbs with her husband, their sons, and a trio (give or take) of rescue kitties.
A three-time finalist for the Simon and Schuster Mary Higgins Clark Award, she’s won an RWA Rita Award, an RT Award for Career Achievement in Suspense, the 2007 RWA-NYC Golden Apple Award for Lifetime Achievement, and five WLA Washington Irving Prizes for Fiction. LITTLE GIRL LOST (July, William Morrow) launches Wendy’s fifth suspense trilogy for HarperCollins.
Our Toastmaster will be R. G. Belsky, a journalist in New York City and the author of highly regarded crime fiction. His newest mystery , YESTERDAY’S NEWS, was published in May 2018 by Oceanview. It is the first in a series featuring Clare Carlson, the news director for a New York City TV station. A second Clare Carlson book, BELOW THE FOLD, will be out in May 2019.
Mr. Belsky is a former managing editor at the Daily News and writes about the media from an extensive background in newspapers, magazines and TV/digital news. At the Daily News, he also held the titles of metropolitan editor and deputy national editor. Before that, he was metropolitan editor of the New York Post and news editor at Star magazine. He was the Claymore Award winner at Killer Nashville 2016 and also a Silver Falchion Finalist in both the mystery and thriller categories.
Our Fan Guest of Honor will be long-time mystery fan Nikki Bonnani.
Volunteer! There are many little jobs to be done to help the conference run smoothly, and it’s a great way to make new friends.
